LJ seems to enjoy making my life (everyone's lives) difficult, so I'm having trouble with the formatting. I've been trying to fix it for a while, but I'm sick of it, so I'm sorry for any formatting problems.

Sharing is Caring. Day 1/7. Take 2.

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 9:25 PM

I know the meme is supposed to go like this:
For one week, recommend/share:
Day one: a song
Day two: a picture
Day three: a book/ebook/fanfic
Day four: a site
Day five: a youtube clip
Day six: a quote
Day seven: whatever tickles your fancy

But I've compiled a list of things I want to share, and it is massive.
So I've decided to buck the system.
Instead of sharing one item a day for 7 days, I'm going to share one of each item a day for 7 days. I've already shared a song for today, so...

Sharing is Caring. Day 1/7

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 6:24 PM

Once again, I've taken this from [info]shenniefish.

For one week, recommend/share:
               Day one: a song
               Day two: a picture
               Day three: a book/ebook/fanfic
               Day four: a site
               Day five: a youtube clip
               Day six: a quote
Day seven: whatever tickles your fancy

I was going to upload some songs to Megaupload to share, but apparently MU hates me, so it's not happening.
So I made alternate arrangements.
Since it is Ludwig van Beethoven's birthday today (December 17, 1770 - March 26, 1827), I thought I would share one of his pieces.
This is The Coriolan Overture, played by the Berliner Philharmoniker, conducted by Wilhelm Furtwängler in 1943.
It's one of my favourites for a very good reason: it's an absolute fucking masterpiece!
Again, I can't upload it, so here it is on Youtube.

Meme time!

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 2:47 PM

I ganked this from [info]shenniefish

My user name is: Aissi. I made this up solely because I needed a username. But I really like it. Mostly for the way it is written phonetically, eye-ee-see. It is now one of my (very many) middle names.

My journal name is: eye-ee-see, which, as we just discussed, is the phonetic spelling of my username.

My journal title is: And that's when I realised I was God. This is inspired by a Peter O'Toole quote. If you don't know who Peter O'Toole is, look him up. He is an absolutely brilliant actor; one of my very favourites. And he's Irish, so yay!
Anyway, the quote is:
"When did I realise I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realised I was talking to myself."

My subtitle is: Where independ thought is expendable. This was inspired by this conversation:
Random Guy in Street: You're a fucking homophobe!
Me: Yep, fucking hate the gays.
Pansy: Aren't you, like, a lesbian?
Me: Yeah, but he decided to judge me and I don't like to disappoint so I thought I'd just roll with it.

My friends page is called: Friends. Not exactly original, I'll admit. I just never got around to changing it from the default.

My default userpic is: All I want for Christmas is to be Batgirl. For a long time it's been a silhouette of a child holding an umbrella, but I thought I'd get into the Christmas spirit. After Christmas I shall probably change it to something entirely new, but I have no idea what.

ATAR

  • Dec. 17th, 2009 at 9:53 AM

I just got my ATAR.
It's not as good as I'd hoped, but better than I expected.
It's not high enough to get me into the University of Sydney, but w/e. It looks like it might be Macquarie, which is not as good a school, but actually more convenient geographically. Or possibly the Australian Catholic University, which is (obviously) where my mother wants me to go.
I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to stay, though.

NOH8

  • Dec. 16th, 2009 at 10:48 AM

So, I just discovered that Meghan McCaine, John McCaine's daughter, did a shot for the NOH8 campaign.

This made me happy. Good for her. I'm sure her father isn't happy about it, which makes me even happier.

I also found out that Isaiah Washington did a shot.

Seriously? Didn't he leave Grey's Anatomy because there was major fallout after he called J.R. Knight a faggot?

I passed!
Not only did I pass, I did quite well! Well, maybe not well, but at least a lot better than I was expecting to.
We don't actually get our ATARs (formerly UAIs) until tomorrow morning, so my fingers are still crossed; I could end up with a terrible ATAR, but I'm feeling a lot more confident than I was yesterday!
I seriously feel like dancing right now! I can't stop smiling.
Tomorrow will probably completely kill my buzz, so I'm just gonna go with it until then!

Merlin Flailiness

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 7:47 AM

Last night, I participated in my first flailpost over at [info]merlinaustralia for episode 12 of season 2.
It was awesome! Who knew flailing could be so fun?
I'm sad that there will only be one more before the end of the season, but I will definitely be there for it. If only I'd gotten into the flailpost when [info]shenniefish told me to. Oh, well.

Kiss Shag Marry Kill

  • Dec. 6th, 2009 at 2:44 PM

This is the second Kiss Shag Marry Kill [info]shenniefish has given me, becuase the first one was a bit too easy.
This one is quite tricky because I HATE everyone on it.

My choices were River Tam (from Firefly), Saul Tigh (from Battlestar Galactica), Ian Somerhalder and Edward Cullen (from Twatlight).

So... )

I DID IT!

  • Dec. 4th, 2009 at 11:15 AM

Last night, I went to bed at around midnight. This morning, I woke up at 9am.
I woke up several times in between, but w/e.
I ACTUALLY SLEPT AT NIGHT TIME!

My Kiss Shag Marry Kill as chosen by [info]shenniefish

[info]shenniefish went about this very studiously, with illustrations, and tables and charts. Mine is a lot less impressive.

My choices were:

Parker (from Leverage), Drusilla (from Buffy), Six (from Battlestar Galactica), and Rachel Shelley (the actress who plays Helena Peabody on The L Word).

Now, believe it or not, I actually went about this somewhat logically. I have a list of pros and cons and everything.

So... )

Where the Wild Things Are

  • Dec. 3rd, 2009 at 12:35 PM

I just saw Where The Wild Things Are with [info]shenniefish
It was incredible. I loved it.
However, I'm terribly inattentive in films and tend to miss large portions due to lack of interest or day dreaming. So I need to see it again before I can say, definitively, how marvelous it was. Unfortunately, I tend to like films a lot less after the second viewing :( Hopefully, this one will be different.
Also, the colouring was amazing and the soundtrack was absolutely perfect and brilliant!
That is all!

Night time crazies

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 3:39 PM

My sleeping patterns are so messed up.
Since school ended, almost a month ago, I've been going to bed at 5.30am and sleeping until midday. Then I started going to bed later and later, until I finally stopped going to bed at all. Then I'd just crash for an hour or 2 in the afternoon.
Last night I slept from 5.30pm until 1.30am. It's 3.30pm and I just woke up from a 3 hour nap, which was supposed to be a 5 hour sleep. The only reason I'm awake is that the phone rang.

Anyway, the point of this post is to tell you the weird dream I just had.
In my dream, there was supposed to be some sort of 'friendly compertition' between Nicolas Sarkozy and Vladimir Putin (the presidents of France and Russia, respectively). I was supposed to be the referee. When they showed up, Sarkozy thought it was supposed to be a Tournament of the Minds-type thing and Putin thought it would be a fist-fight. So Sarkozy started running away from Putin, who was trying to punch him.
I was supposed to break it up, but I couldn't get past Nixon, who kept ranting at me about the dangers of international cooperation and multiculturalism.
So I'm trying to get past Nixon while Sarkozy is running around, hiding behind desks and pot plants and throwing things at Putin who is trying to hit him.
It was interesting.
